Meslek hayatıma bankacı olarak başladım, sonra tekstil sektörüne geçtim. 2008 yılında İDTMGenel Müdürlüğüne atandım ve 2013 yılına kadar 5 yıl boyunca bu görevi yürüttüm. Aynı zamanda Dünya Ticaret Merkezleri Birliği’nin (WTCA) yö- netim kurulu üyeliğinde bulundum. 2013 yılından 2018 yılına kadar üst düzey yönetici olarak savunma sanayinde çalıştım. 2018 yılında tekrar İDTM ye döndüm ve ikinci dönemime başladım. Tekrar göreve çağırılmayı değerli buluyorum, tecrübenin önem- senmesi olarak yorumlayabiliriz” şeklinde tanıttı. İFM hakkında ise “Türkiye’nin alanında en büyüğü olarak fu- arcılık sektörüne yön veren kuruluşuz ve öyle kalmak istiyoruz. Önceliğimiz fuarcılığın gelişimine katkı sağlayacak politikalar üre- terek memlekete fayda sağlamak. Elbette bir şirketiz ve kar elde etmek isteriz ama bu öncelik sıralamamızda biraz daha alt sıralarda kalıyor. Sadece kar odaklı bir şirket olmadığımız için milli men- faatleri ön planda tutup ülkemizde fuarcılığının gelişimine daha fazla hizmet edebiliyoruz. Çok ortaklı, kamu odaklı bir yönetim yapımız var. İDTM’de, İstanbul Ticaret Odası (%41.47), Türkiye Odalar ve Borsalar Birliği (%27.24), İstanbul Büyükşehir Beledi- yesi (%23.89), Bakırköy Belediyesi (%5), İstanbul Sanayi Oda- sı (%0.96), İstanbul Ticaret Borsası (%1.43), İktisadi Kalkınma Vakfı (%0.01) olmak üzere 7 kurumun çeşitli oranlarda hissesi H aluk Kanca introduced himself saying “I was born in Trabzon, I am 52 years old. I graduated from ITUManagement Engineer- ing Department. I started my professional life as a banker, and then shifted to the textile industry. I was appointed as the General Manager of İDTM in 2008 and I held this position for 5 years until 2013. I have also been a member of the board of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA). I worked in the defense industry as a senior manager from 2013 to 2018. I returned to IDTM in 2018 and started my second tenure. I find it worthwhile to be called back again; we can interpret it as the importance of experience.” About Istanbul Expo Center, he said, ““As the greatest fair organizer of Tur- key, we are an institution steering the fair organization sector andwe want to sustain this. Our priority is to benefit our country by producing policies that will contribute to the development of the fair organization. Of course, as a company, making profits is among our aims, it cannot be a priority for us. Since we are not just a profit-oriented company, we can prioritize national interests and serve more to the development of the fair organization in our country. We have a multi-partner, public-oriented management structure. In İDTM, 7 institutions own shares at various percentages such as Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (41.47%), The Union of Chambers and Com- modity Exchanges of Turkey (27.24%), Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal- ity (23.89%), Bakırköy Municipality (5%), Istanbul Chamber of Industry (0.96%), Istanbul Commodity Exchange (1.43%), and Economic Devel- opment Foundation (0.01%).
