Avdagiç, “Turizm sektörümüz ile bir- likte toplantı endüstrisinde yeni bir sayfa açmıyoruz, yeni bir defter açıyoruz. Artık bu defterin biçimi de, özellikleri de bir öncekinden farklı” benzetmesini yaptı. Dünyada, Türkiye’de ve İstanbul’da, etkinliklerin büyük bir kısmının sanal ortamda devam ettiğini belirten Şekib Avdagiç, “Di- jitalin ön planda olduğu bir normalleşme sürecine gireceği- miz bir muhakkak. Bununla birlikte ihtiyaç duyduğumuz yüz yüze etkileşim ve bir araya gelme arzumuz hiçbir zaman değişmeyecek. Doğru bir yol haritası çizerek, kısa, orta ve uzun vadede İstanbul ve Türkiye’yi turizm ve kongre, toplantı ve etkinlik endüstrisi alanlarında güvenilir ve çağa ayak uydurmuş destinasyonlar olarak hep birlikte yükselişe geçireceğimize inanıyorum” diye konuştu. Turizm ve toplantı endüstrisinin, pandemi sürecinden doğ- rudan ve öncelikli olarak etkilendiğini hatırlatan Avdagiç, “Dünyadaki destinasyonların yüzde 100’ü seyahat kısıtla- maları gerçekleştirdi. Tüm dünyada ulusal ve uluslararası kongre, toplantı ve etkinliklerin tamamı iptal edildi ya da ertelendi. Bu dönemde, sektörümüzün tüm temsilcilerine, paydaşlarına ve bizlere düşen, önümüzdeki dönemi doğru tedbirler ve adımlarla yönetmek, turizm ve toplantı en- düstrisi alanında şehrimizi ve ülkemizi en kısa sürede ayağa kaldırmaktır” dedi. ICCA’nın dünyada en çok uluslararası kongre ve toplantıya ev sahipliği yapan şehirler sıralama- sında ilk üçte Paris, Lizbon ve Berlin yer aldı. Dünya ülke sıralamasında ise ilk üçe ABD, Almanya ve Fransa yerleşti. 2019 yılında dünya genelinde toplam 13 bin 254 toplantı gerçekleşirken, Avrupa bölgesi 7 bin 33 toplantıya ev sa- hipliği yaptı. ICCA raporuna göre, İstanbul’da son 10 yılda toplam bin 41 kongre ve toplantı gerçekleştirildi. En çok kongrenin yapıldığı yıl ise 159 toplantı ile 2015 yılı oldu. İstanbul, 2019’da dün- yada büyük kongrelere ev sahipliği yapan 424 şehir arasın- da 44’üncü, Avrupa’da ise 27’nci sırada yer aldı. Now, the format and features of this notebook are different from the previous one,” Avdagic said. Stating that most of the events are going on in the virtual environment in the world, in Turkey and in Istanbul, Şekib Avdagiç said “We are definitely going to enter a normalization process that digitization comes to the forefront. However, our desire to interact face to face and come together will never change. The tempo that human nature has been accustomed to for a thousand years will continue in the new normal.” “Our Biggest Advantage Is Our Capacity AndHealth MeasuresWeTake” Avdagiç, “As Istanbul and Turkey, our biggest advantage in the process is our service capacity and the health measures we take as a country. I believe that, drawing the right road map, we will ensure Istanbul and Turkey to be on the rise as reliable and contemporary destinations in tourism, congress, meeting, and event industries in the short,medium, and long- term all together.” Reminding that the tourism and meeting industry is directly and primarily affected by the pandemic process, Avdagiç said, “100 percent of the destinations in the world have imposed travel restrictions. All national and international congresses, meetings, and events around the world have been either can- celed or postponed. During this period, all representatives of our industry, our stakeholders, and we should manage the coming period with the right measures and steps and raise our city and our country in the field of tourism and meeting industry as soon as possible.” The top three in ICCA’s list of cities that host the highest number of international congresses andmeetings were listed Paris, Lisbon and Berlin respectively. In the world country rankings, USA, Germany and France are in the top three. In 2019, 13 thousand 254meetings were held worldwide, while the European region hosted 7 thou- sand 33 of them. According to the ICCA report, a total of one thousand and 41 congresses and meetings were held in Istanbul in the last 10 years. The year in which the highest number of congresses was held was 2015 with 159 meetings.
