ARTICLE • MAKALE 49 UFYD / january - MARCH 2021 • OCAK - MART 2021 İstanbul’u dünya fuarcılığının başkenti yapma amacıyla yola çı- kan ve İDTM tarafından işletilen Türkiye’nin en büyük fuar alanlarına sahip İstanbul Fuar Merkezi’nde (İFM) her yıl ortalama 100 fuar ya- pılıyor. 1993 yılından itibaren fuar sektörüne hizmet veren İFM’nin 85 bin m²’lik alanı içerisinde otomotivden, tekstile, enerjiden, yapı malzemelerine, sanayi makinalarından, mobilyaya ve bunun ben- zeri birçok sektöre ev sahipliği yaparak ülke ekonomisine katkıda bulunuyor. Her yıl ortalama 100 fuara ev sahipliği yapan İstanbul Fuar Mer- kezi, dünyayı etkisi altına alan ve uluslararası ticareti durma nokta- sına getirerek birçok sektörü olumsuz yönde etkileyen fuarcılık sektörünün ise daha zor günler yaşamasına sebep olan Covid-19 kü- resel salgınının etkilerini en aza indirmek için kolları sıvadı. İstanbul Dünya Ticaret Merkezi, bu olumsuz süreci, önleyici tedbirleri her aşa- mada titizlik ile ele alarak bir hazırlık süreci hali- ne getirerek, fuar alanlarını yeniledi. Yenileme çalışmaları yapılan İstanbul Fuar Merkezi’nde; alanları ziyaret eden, stant kuran ve çalışan insanların güvenliği, fuar alanlarının verimliliği, organizatör, katılımcı ve ziyaretçi açı- sından konforu ve prestij ön planda tutuldu. ÖNCELİĞİMİZ GÜVENLİK 28 yıllık fuar merkezinde yenileme çalışma- ları yapılmadan önce yangın algılama ve yan- gın söndürme sistemleri yeterli değildi. Bazı hollerde riskli yapı raporu vardı. Acil anons yapılamıyor, güncel şartnamelere aykırı olarak yağlı tip trafolar kullanılıyordu. Serv- ing the fair sector since 1993, IEC contributes to the economy by hosting automotive, textile, energy, construction materials, industrial machinery, furniture and many other similar industries in its area of 85 thousand square meters. Hosting an average of 100 fairs every year, Istanbul Expo Cen- ter has taken off the gloves to minimize the effects of the Covid-19 global pandemic, which has come upon the world and damaged many industries by bringing international trade to a halt. World Trade Center Istanbul renewed the fairgrounds by turning this negative process into a preparation process by taking preventive measures meticulously at every stage. In Istanbul Expo Center, where renovation works have been carried out, the safety of people visiting the areas, setting up booths and working, efficiency of the fairgrounds, and com- fort and prestige from the viewpoint of organiz- ers, exhibitors and visitors have been prioritized. SECURITY OUR PRIORITY Before renovation works were carried out in the 28-year-old exhibition center, fire detection and fire extinguishing systems were not suffi- cient.
