However, we can and should organize similar fairs inTurkey, in Istanbul.The most important deficiency is the lack of fairgrounds. Another issue is cooperation and solidarity in the sector. The world fair sector is a giant cake of 325 billion dollars, twice our exports, we should try to get more shares from here. Digitalization is now part of our lives. Easy and fast, even bread and milk are being brought to our homes. Even though digital fairs are on the rise, they cannot re- place actual fairs, the fair organization is another thing. You are drinking coffee and even a partnership can be established during a conversation. Even after the pan- demic, I think that the fair sector will regain its old momentum in a short period of time and it will grow very much with new companies, new industries, and products. When the pandemic first broke out, we said that, we, as ASKON, will not fire anyone, and we did so, and we took up the challenges together. In the first days of the epidemic, we came together with the council of ministers, as 12 heads of institutions un- der the leadership of our President. Our president gave the right to speak 5minutes for us and 2minutes for the ministers. In a total of 5 and half hours, we explained all sorts of our problems and solutions. We were together with the state and the public and we were the country that survived this process with the least damage in terms of health and economy. We now know that we will learn to live with the pandemic, but we must contin- ue our lives by taking care of masks, social distance and hygiene and taking precautions. We need to go back to normal life starting from the next October. Bir kahve içiyor- sunuz bir sohbet muhabbet ortamında ortaklık bile kurulabiliyor. Hatta pandemiden sonra fuarcılık sektörünün çok büyüyeceğin yeni firmalar, yeni sanayi ve ürünlerle fuarcılığın eski ivmesini kısa zamanda tekrar kazanacağını düşünüyorum. Pan- demi ilk başladığında ASKON olarak kimseyi işten çıkarmayacağız dedik ve öyle yaptık, zorlukları be- raber göğüsledik. Salgının ilk günlerinde Cumhurbaşkanımızın başkanlığında 12 kurum başkanı olarak bakanlar kuruluyla bir araya geldik. Cumhurbaşkanımız 2 dakika bakanlara 5 dakika bize söz hakkı verdi. Toplamda 5 buçuk saatlik bir toplantıyla her tür- lü dertleri ve çözüm önerilerimiz anlattık. Devlet, halk bir arada olduk ve hem sağlık hem ekonomi anlamında bu süreci en az zararla atlatan ülke ol- duk. Artık biliyoruz ki pandemiyle yaşamayı öğre- neceğiz ama maske, mesafe ve hijyene dikkat ede- rek, önlemlerimizi alarak hayatımızı sürdürmeliyiz. Ekim ayından itibaren normale dönmemiz gerek. Kanca: İfm’yi Yenilemek İçin 70Milyonluk Büt- çe Ayırdık Toplantıda söz alan İFM Genel Müdür Vekili Ha- luk Kanca da fuarcılık alanları açısından sıkıntı ol- duğunu vurgulayarak, “Uluslararası büyük boyutlu fuarlar için, bu alanlarda söz sahibi olabilmek için Türkiye’nin en az 200 bin metrekare fuar alanları- na ihtiyaç var. Biz bu süreçte İFM’yi baştan aşağı yeniliyoruz. Çalışmalar şu an tüm hızıyla sürmekte. Tam 70 milyon liralık bir bütçe ayırdık. Fuarcılık sektörüne inanıyoruz ve geleceğe yatırım yapmaya devam edeceğiz” dedi. “Fuarcılık sektörü, ülkemizde daha iyi yerlere gelebilir, dünyada söz sahibi olabilir. Her sektör- de hız ve üretimde güçlüyüz bunu fuarcılık sektörüne yansıtmamız lazım, en büyük eksiği- miz fuar alanlarının yetersizliği. We have to come together with stakeholders from all sectors and act with a common mind in solidarity.”
